Is VIIO safe?
This is how your funds are protected

How does VIIO protect your funds?
VIIO is not a bank: it is a technology platform that gives you access to digital assets and moves them only on your instructions, as an execution agent. Your digital assets are yours and are kept separate from VIIO’s money. The platform applies controls such as identity verification, encryption and recording of transactions on the blockchain.

Your digital assets are yours
Your digital assets are kept separate from VIIO’s money and are not part of the assets VIIO uses to answer to its creditors. VIIO does not become their owner, does not lend them, does not pledge them as collateral and only moves them on your instructions, including the charges you authorized in the Terms.

Anti-money laundering
Digital asset transactions are analyzed with Elliptic. If the origin of some funds cannot be verified, VIIO may hold or return them.

Transaction control
Get notifications for your purchases, top-ups, transfers and payments received, plus an email every time someone signs in to your account. For sensitive actions, such as withdrawals, we ask you for a verification code. In addition, every digital asset transaction is recorded on the network and no one can change it afterwards.

Encrypted information
Your data is stored and transmitted encrypted. Your personal data is processed under Colombian Law 1581 of 2012, supervised by the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC).

Identity verification
From sign-up, VIIO verifies who opens the account using your documents, biometrics and restrictive lists. This makes it harder for anyone to operate in your name.

Your card, with no visible details
Since your details are not shown, every payment is protected and you can shop with peace of mind. Purchases with your VIIO Card go through the Visa network, which applies its own controls. If you lose it, you can freeze it from the app with a single tap. The VIIO Visa Card is a product of Persimon S.A.S., under its own agreement.
Preventive closure
What happens to your funds if VIIO closes?
If VIIO closes or goes into liquidation, it will notify you and you will have 30 days to sell, convert, send or withdraw what you hold.
If you still have a balance after that, VIIO sends it to the backup details in your profile, as you authorized when you accepted the Terms: if you registered a bank account in Colombia, everything is converted to pesos and sent to that account; if not, but you registered a wallet, your digital assets are sent to it as they are (any pending pesos or foreign currency are first converted to a digital asset); if you registered neither, it is sent once you tell us where and, in the meantime, it stays in your name and you can claim it whenever you want. That is why it is worth registering a backup account or wallet and keeping it up to date.
VIIO is not a financial institution
VIIO is not a financial institution, does not take deposits under Colombian regulations and is not supervised by the Financial Superintendence of Colombia. The digital assets available on VIIO are not legal tender or foreign currency and are not covered by FOGAFÍN or any government guarantee. The VIIO Visa Card is operated by Persimon S.A.S.

Support team
Our support team, inside the app, is available Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Colombia time). For personal data matters, email soporte@viio.me.
